Het landschap als een samenraapsel van elkander dominerende elementen, een wankel evenwicht dat zich om ons heen uitstrekt, gecomponeerd uit tegenstrijdigheden van zowel menselijke als natuurlijke aard….
De sculpturen en objecten van Tinka Pittoors (°1977) ontstaan vanuit dit gegeven en bevragen de utopie van de maakbare wereld. Door het combineren van herkenbare en nieuwe vormen en materialen creëert Pittoors in haar werk een geheel eigen vormentaal die geënt is op het gekende, op zoek naar een parallelle sculpturale realiteit. Daar waar de materialen aansluiting zoeken met de realiteit, zet de vorm zich er juist tegen af.
Belichting speelt hierin een belangrijke rol: het omsluit en begrenst de sculptuur als het ware, maar onderstreept tegelijkertijd de autonomie van de gepresenteerde wereld. Er ontstaat een ambigu beeld dat balanceert op de rand van de werkelijkheid. Pittoors’ in zichzelf gekeerde ‘landschapsvoorstellen’ suggereren een vernieuwde kijk op landschapsarchitectuur, een artificiële benadering op de inplanting van groenzones. Of het utopische dan wel dystopische voorstellen zijn, laat Pittoors in het midden.
Rest ons de vraag: is de verleidelijkheid van het beeld werkelijk bewoonbaar?

Tinka Pittoors’ sculptures and objects (°1977) arise out of this concept and examine the utopia of a world that can be moulded.By combining recognizable forms and materials with new ones, Pittoors creates in her work a language of form entirely her own, engrafted onto the one we know, in search of a parallel sculptural reality. Whereas the materials seek to connect with reality, the form actually reacts against this.
Lighting plays a significant role in this: it encompasses and defines the sculpture as it were, but at the same time underlines the autonomy of the world presented. An ambiguous image is created that balances on the verge of reality. Pittoors’ introvert “landscape proposals” suggest a renewed view of landscape architecture, an artificial approach on the implantation of green zones. Whether they are utopian or dystopic proposals is left aside by Pittoors.
The question remains for us: is the temptation of the image really inhabitable?
