NL: Cathy Weyders heeft een visueel vocabularium uitgewerkt via verschillende expressieve media. Objecten uit recuperatiematerialen, zelfs fotografie en video, etc…
Begrippen als territorium, geborgenheid zijn onderwerpen die mede bepalen hoe zij omgaat met ruimte. Concepten als comfort, bescherming, breekbaarheid, vergankelijkheid stellen dit alles mede in vraag.
Tegelijkertijd ontwikkelt Cathy Weyders een eigen universum rond het thema van „drenkeling“. Een esthetische benadering over de „redding“: water, vlottenbouw of denkbeeldige schipbreuken… Een beschouwing over onze menselijke status, een metafoor voor een wereld die langzaamaan in verval is.

FR: Cathy Weyders élabore un vocabulaire visuel enrichit de plusieurs médiums d’expression. De la sculpture reposant sur la récupération d’objets quotidiens à la photographie, la vidéo…
La notion de territoire, de refuge sont des sujets qui influencent son rapport à l’espace, tout en remettant en question les concepts de confort, de protections, de fragilité, d’encrage, d’éphémère…
En parallèle, Cathy Weyders développe un univers autour du thème du «naufrage». Une esthétique proche du «sauvetage», de l’eau, de créations de radeaux ou de naufragés imaginaires…Une réflexion sur notre condition humaine, la métaphore d’un monde qui lentement part en déliquescence.

DYOYMU shows a colourful universe full of inhabitants who create their own fantasy in order to proctect themselves from the absurdity that surround them.

Eng: An art installation made for a mental institution is dragged to the creative window of M’atuvu in Brussels.

“Love me love me” is a 3-partly work. It was especialy designed for a mental institution. Madness is a base for this work, which reveals in a way the mind of 3 women who do “crazy” things in the name of love. Three times madly love in a more and more evolving individual society. Or are those three women more “normal” than will all think?

Nl: Deze kunstinstallatie ontworpen voor een psychiatrisch centrum zal tijdelijk naar de vitrine van de M’atuvu in Brussel worden verplaatst.

“Love me love me” is een driedelig werk. Het werd speciaal gecreerd voor een psychiatrisch centrum. Waanzin ligt dus aan de basis van dit werk gezien zij de geest van 3 vrouwen blootlegt die nogal “gekke” dingen doen uit liefde. Driemaal waanzinnige liefde in een steeds individualistischer worden maatschappij. Of zijn deze dames toch “normaler” dan wij denken?

Nl: Duchateau en Margaux zullen u op zijn minst visueel EN auditief entertainen met absurde teksten, scheldgezangen en levensliederen, met de hulp van ongeziene muziekinstrumenten, slingers, snoep… en Lassie natuurlijk.

I drew the windows by cut-off line. To me, it reminds me od intermediate between existance and non-existance.
When I stuck at my place all alone, windows are nearest connection to the world.
This idea came from the scene that light escapes from the curains in the early morning when kept me up a night.

‘WHERE THERE IS BEAUTY, THERE IS A PICTURE’ KODAK is a live performance with old slides from the fifties, sixties and seventies. Someone who thought it was worth it has taken these photos. But these photos have been abandoned, thrown away.

Who are the people on these pictures?

What happened at the moment the pictures were taken?
And most of all, what do they try to tell us?

‘WHERE THERE IS BEAUTY, THERE IS A PICTURE’ KODAK is a still image story with an uncompleted storyline. It’s a performance based on our interpretation of images and on the associations we can create between them.

It’s a performance about our ability to rethink our biography and our habit to archive our life.

Kom en ontdek een fantastische plek! Parking 58: één van Brussels best bewaarde geheimen, een ruwe parel in het hart van onze hoofdstad.

De parking, gebouwd naar aanleiding van Expo 58, getuigt van de geschiedenis en ontwikkeling van Brussel. De 10e, bovenste verdieping biedt letterlijk een panoramisch zicht op het heden en verleden van de stad.

Park 58 nodigt je uit om Brussel anders te bekijken, te beleven en te dromen vanop dit immense dak. De titel van het project geeft zelf al een voorzet: laat 3 letters weg en beeld je in dat Parking 58 verandert in een Park…

Op 21 september a.s. is het Autoloze Zondag en Open Monumentendag in Brussel. Redenen te meer om een bezoekje te brengen aan Park(ing) 58. Vanaf 14u kan je het spectaculaire 360°-panorama ontdekken door één of meer toertjes rond het dak te lopen, te wandelen of te fietsen in de collectieve marathon 58T. Sfeer verzekerd, met de ludieke acties, performances en artistieke interventies die plaatshebben op het dak. Vanaf 16u gaan in de taverne op straatniveau een reeks gratis concerten van start.
